Hungry Head Cabins – Hungry Head NSW

The Hungry Head Reserve is sheltered behind the Surf Club and observation platform adjacent to the cabins. If you want to enjoy the typical Australian bush and beach setting, Hungry Head Cabins is the ideal place to visit. Whilst staying at Hungry Head Cabins or whilst visiting the Reserve, it is not unusual to be visited by any of the wildlife that are lucky enough to call Hungry Head Reserve their home. Kangaroos, wallabies, possums, bandicoots, kookaburras, currawongs and many other species of bird and animal life also frequent the area.

Flora and fauna
Bellinger Heads State Park NSW is home to the scenic estuarine area of Urunga lagoons. Dotted with endangered ecological vegetation communities, this area supports a wide range of bird species including a number of threatened shore birds. Walk through littoral rainforests, freshwater wetlands and mangroves surrounding the Urunga lagoon or head further north and walk from Mylestom along the beach or behind the coastal dunes to Bongil Bongil National Park. Bird species commonly seen in this area include Bower Birds, Rainbow Bee-eaters, Dollar Birds, Brahminy Kites and White-Bellied Sea-Eagles.
Location
Located 530 km north of Sydney at the mouth of the Bellinger and Kalang Rivers, Bellinger Heads State Park NSW stretches from the Tuckers Rocks in the north to Hungary Head in the south. The nearest regional centre is Coffs Harbour which is 20minutes drive to the north.
